Last Mile Debt Relief Initiative For Tech Equity
Thanks to a generous donor, the Last Mile Education Fund has launched the Debt Relief Initiative for Tech Equity. This pilot initiative will pay down student loan and qualified educational debt for graduates who have obtained a computing-related bachelor's degree and students in their final semester of obtaining these degrees.
By reducing or eliminating debt for low-income students from underrepresented groups in tech, Last Mile is addressing systemic class and racial inequalities that result in lower graduation rates, higher debt-load, and, ultimately, a lack of diversity across the tech industry. Debt relief increases the likelihood of graduates to pursue advanced degrees, research opportunities, entrepreneurship and work in their chosen field.
